The concept of stochastic resonance (SR) has been applied into the analysis of satellite thermal infrared images. Six kinds of anomalous phenomena related to crustal movement were recognized in satellite thermal infrared images. Six diagnostic indicators for the prediction of magnitude above 6.0 global earthquakes and their quantitative evaluation standards have been established. The microscopic behavior of global crustal movement is successfully controlled by using satellite thermal infrared imagery, and the occurrence time and magnitude of over 80% of global strong earthquakes occurred since the foundation of the observation station have been successfully predicted. It is believed that the combination of satellite thermal infrared information with macroscopic anomalous phenomena will play an important role in earthquake hazard reduction.

The daily and yarly periodic variation regularities of soil temperature and characteristics of soil temperature gradient variation have been studied in this paper ,the relationship between soil water movement as well as the exchange regularity of soil water with phreatic water and soil temperature varition has also been ana lyzed . From experiments and analysis show that the daily periodic variation of tem perature is one of the main reasons causing the daily periodic variation of phreatic water table.

In economic , social and urban studies, areal units under analysis frequently differ from areal units over which data are compiled. Most area based analyses, hence, face an unavoidable problem of transferring data across different zonal systems. This paper analyzes areal interpolation using ancillary data EM method and points out how to realize it in GIS. The characteristics of EM method are discussed. At last, the prospects of areal interpolation using ancillary data is elaborated as well.

This paper analyses connotation of the integrated model for urbanization in terms of the situation of urbanization in China and requirement to information integration in the new information age. On the basis of studying effects of urbanization on ecosystems, a system of huge data based sub models is proposed and major characteristics of the integrated model is described under the modern information technology.

The combination of Remote Sensing(RS), Global Position System(GPS), Graphical Information System(GIS),which are characteristic of celerity, precision and dynamic, can find the eco enviromental condition of the research area, and develop the eco environmental base survey database with high precision, which available the scientific direction for the government's macro decision making and layout. The paper ,as an example of the assumed project of "the Synthetic Survey and Evaluation of Eco environment with Remote Sensing in Minjiang Middle and Upper Valley" of National Theme 863 308,"the Golden Eye Action", discusses that the application of utilizing the "3S" technology(RS?GPS and GIS)to instruct setting down the policy of Changing Cultivation into Tree Planting and monitoring the eco environment. The precision of calculating surface area can meet the demand of 2 rank resources survey of our country.

Vegetation coverage information in East Maowusu sand area were extracted and calculated by using TM imagery received in 1987 and 1998. The changes of vegetation coverage in past 11 years were obtained. The paper evaluated the effect of sand control in recent years and demonstrated the relationship between coal mine exploitation and vegetation recovery.

The Paper recounts the investigation of flood and debris flow calamities by remote sensing technology in Mentougou District, southwest Beijing. This work has msde a grest role in against the natural calamities in the flood seasons these years, and has achieved a notable social-economy benefits. Judgements are raised for the main types of calamities and their harmfulness, meanwhile, villages and towns of the district are divided into four categories acording to the potential disaster conditions. The prevention and control proposals are put forward for all of the four categories of villages and small towns.Finaly, the potential factors related to the calamities are analysed, and the control measures are advanced.

This paper proposes a quickly universal conversion method based on the differential correction of double affine transformation for projections between the diverse projection plans. It shows its principle, demonstrates its correctness, and gives its coverage and skills for fast computing. The method is very suitable for the projection transformation on different DRG.

The quantity of the EM energy that reflected from the ground decided the quality of the satellite image of passive remote sensing. And the reflection of the ground has close relation with its topography. The more complex of the topography the more shadowy there are in the satellite image. The topography of Caiynaghe Nature Reserve of Yunnan is very complex and there are more than 10% shadows in the TM image. It limited the applying and developing of RS technology in Yunnan province. We tried the sunlit and shadow normalization to eliminate shadows caused by topography. It turned out quite good in imagine enhancement of Caiyanghe Nature Reserve and later applying in Wuliangshan Nature Reserve.

Hyperspectral data contain plenty of information about space, radiation and spectrum, which makes it feasible to quantificationally analyze the chemical concentration of earth surface. Studying the spectral characteristics of main biochemical components of plants with hyperspectral data, we can determine the concentration of various componets by use of certain algorithm. In this way we can at last supervise the growing status of plants. In this paper, stepwise multiple linear regression and spectrum derivative techniques are introduced to calculate the concentration of nitrogen, lignin and cellulose in plant.
